The Chamber Choir of the State Academic Philharmonic named after Yerkegali Rakhmadiev from Astana delivered a triumphant performance at the opening of the IX International Choir Festival on Jeju Island. The delegation was led by Professor Duisen Korabayuly Kaseinov, an Honored Artist of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Presidium of the Kazakhstan-Asia Association for Trade and Cultural Development.
The choir's masterful performance and vibrant national imagery won the hearts of the audience. Special admiration was evoked by the songs “Men, men edim” (Makhambet Otemisuly) and “On alty kyzy”, performed with the accompaniment of the dombra. The arrangement of the first piece was prepared by Yerbolat Abilay, while the heartfelt solo by Akzhol Satzhanuly Serikov left a deep emotional impact.
As part of the three-day program, the choir presented a rich repertoire ranging from traditional Kazakh songs to masterpieces of world classics, including:
• “Tau ishinde” (Saken Seifullin, Beimbet Demeuov) – soloist: Saniya Nigmetova;
• “On alty kyzy” (Kazakh folk song) – soloist: Akzhol Serikov;
• “Ainalayin” (Alibi Abdinurov);
• “Karlygash” (Akhmet Zhubanov, Ibadolla Matakov, Anatoliy Molodov);
• “Men, men edim” (Makhambet Otemisuly) – soloist: Akzhol Serikov;

• “Las olas de la mar” (Martina Camargo, Juan Manuel Hernandez-Morales) – soloist: Indira Aitbergen;
• “Zhaidarman” and “Qamazhai” (Kazakh folk songs).
Each performance by the choir showcases the richness of Kazakh musical culture. The poignant vocal parts, the live sound of the dombra, and the charisma of the artists left an unforgettable impression. The ensemble of 32 talented singers, under the leadership of Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Gulmira Kuttybadamova and chief choirmaster Danara Tashatova, became one of the highlights of the festival.
The festival on Jeju Island is a unique platform for cultural exchange and an opportunity to explore the musical traditions of different nations. The participation of the Kazakh choir in this prestigious event once again reaffirmed the high level of Kazakhstan's choral art on the international stage.
