At the Meeting of the General Assembly of the 47th World Conference of the International Council for Traditional Music and Dance ICTMD held on January 11, 2025 in Wellington, New Zealand, the leadership and Executive Board of the organization were elected. Special attention of the participants of the 47th World Conference from 70 countries was attracted by the historic decision of the Executive Board to introduce the new status of "ICTMD Ambassador" into the organization's leadership structure. This honorary status is awarded to well-known cultural and artistic figures who have made a significant contribution to advancing the goals of the Council, working to preserve and popularize cultural heritage and proposing long-term plans for the development of ICTMD in the international arena.
The President of ICTMD, Svanibor Pettan (Slovenia), introducing the candidates, noted: “Under the leadership of D. Kaseinov, TURKSOY became a strategic partner of ICTMD, providing support for a number of significant events: the 43rd ICTMD World Conference (2015, Astana); the 33rd ISME World Conference (2018, Baku), international conferences, symposiums and festivals of traditional music. The versatile long-term activity of D. Kasseinova, aimed at developing international cultural cooperation, supporting scientific projects, preserving the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples and popularizing it in the global cultural space, has made a significant contribution to advancing the goals and mission of ICTMD.”
D. Kasseinov's candidacy was unanimously supported by the Executive Board and the conference participants. His election to the post of ICTSD Ambassador underlines the significant role of Kazakhstan and other Turksoy member countries in the development of international cooperation in the field of culture and art.
